Leslie Tripathy, a renowned award-winning multilingual actress, stars in the highly anticipated Hindi film Rocky the Slave, an action thriller directed by the acclaimed James John Barla. Set to release on July 26, 2024. In an exclusive interview with Gamana News, Leslie Tripathy shares her thoughts on Rocky the Slave.

Leslie, your performance as Rita in “Rocky The Slave” is already generating buzz. What drew you to this role and how did you prepare for such an emotionally powerful performance?

Leslie Tripathy: Thank you for asking lovely question, Rocky the slave is directed and written by Action Master James John Barla, I auditioned for the role of Rita and I was crying while enacting my scenes, Rita is someone who has gone through lot of painful experiences in life like rejection, humiliation, being misunderstood, whose dreams couldn’t get any wings and she had to smile through the reality and take care of her loved ones.

You’ve been praised for your ability to convey deep emotions through your expressions, particularly your eyes. How do you tap into those emotions and ensure they come across so strongly on screen?

Leslie Tripathy: I have learned to turn my pain into poetry. As I have endured many painful moments in life so it’s very easy to act in such empowering challenging roles.

“Rocky The Slave” features a stellar cast including Sudesh Berry, Dalip Tahil, Shakti Kapoor, and many other Bollywood luminaries. How was your experience working with such iconic actors?

Leslie Tripathy: It was a dream come true moment for me working with legends and Icons of Indian cinema like Shakti kapoor ji, Dalip Tahil ji, Sudesh Berry ji. I was very nervous yet I was thanking God, the director and producer for giving me this opportunity.

James John Barla is known for his distinct action sequences. Can you share some insights into the action scenes you performed in the film and how you prepared for them?

Leslie Tripathy: Watching James Barla Sir on set teaching action scenes was another level of joy. As a legendary Action master and director of the movie James Sir is very clear with his vision, I was happy as it was like I had enrolled in an acting school again learning from him.

The song “Jeena Yahan” from the film has become an instant hit. Can you tell us more about filming this romantic song and working with Sudesh Berry?

Leslie Tripathy: Sudesh Sir is an icon and legend and working with him in this song was indeed very magical. His presence and performance in the song has elevated the film.

Alka Yagnik’s voice in “Jeena Yahan” has captivated many listeners. How do you feel about the song’s success and the impact of her magical voice on the film’s soundtrack?

Leslie Tripathy: I am still reliving the miracle and joy of acting in this superhit song sung by the Indian Queen of Magical Melody Voice Alka Yagnik ji, the lyrics are also so beautiful. While I was acting in it I was saying my gratitude prayer to the filmmakers for givin me this hit song after all we all have grown up listening to Alka Yagniks magical voice and her superhit songs.

You’ve expressed interest in working in action films, and now you’ve had the opportunity to do so under the direction of Action Master James Barla. How has this experience been different from your previous roles?

Leslie Tripathy: I love the strong female characters in James Barla Sir’s film. He respects women and projects women in a very descent empowering role. In life many of us remain unsung heroes, our director James Barla Sir makes sure all our efforts are heard and seen and appreciated by the audience. I am very happy I got the opportunity to work under his direction.

“Rocky The Slave” is an action thriller with a lot of anticipation surrounding its release. What do you think sets this film apart from other action thrillers in Bollywood?

Leslie Tripathy: The vision of our director James Barla Sir, he is a popular revered Action Director in Indian and International cinema so when he directs a film, he brings out the best of action for action movie lovers.

Your fans are excited about your performance in “Rocky The Slave.” What message would you like to convey to them about the film and your role in it?

Leslie Tripathy: I hope to make all my fans well-wishers proud of my work as Rita in Rocky the Slave, as they have stuck with me in my ups and downs and showered me with love and affection and encouragement to never give up, I feel they shall be happy when I am happy, and they shall cry when I cry in the movie.

With the film’s release just around the corner, what are your hopes for its reception both critically and at the box office?

Leslie Tripathy: I am sure our movie will be loved by audiences and critics.

Can you tell us about your cine journey in 5-6 lines? How did you start, and what have been some of your most memorable experiences so far?

Leslie Tripathy: Since I was a kid I had a dream to become a top Actress in the world cinema, though I had no relatives or friends in this industry still I continued to dream big while I was studying English literature and was a topper and studied journalism and auditioned for many roles and finally I am grateful I got many opportunities to act in superhit films in many languages with legends and iconic actors/directors in Hindi, Odia, Telugu, Chhattisgarhi, Bengali, Tamil , Bhojpuri languages. Dreams do come true. I am happy I have loyal well wishers and family and friends who support me through all ups and downs. I am the stuff dreams, books, songs, movies are made on.
